In June 1996, our Center received a grant from the National Science Foundation to put our collection of over 850 codes of ethics on the World-Wide Web. We are including our codes of ethics of professional societies, corporations, government, and academic institutions. Earlier versions of codes of ethics of some organizations respresented are available so researchers can study the development of codes. A literature review, an introduction to the codes, and a User Guide are included.

Canadian poet John McCrae was a medical officer in both the Second Boer War and World War I. He wrote this sonnet in 1915, inspired by seeing the blood-red poppies blooming in the fields where many of his friends had fallen. McCrae himself died in 1918 while on active duty. His final words, according to his doctor, were: "Tell them this, if ye break faith with us who die, we shall not sleep."
Inc. debuted the column "Black and White" about ethics and business in January 1998. The goal is to explore the moral tensions and choices faced by entrepreneurs, and to provoke discussion at Inc. Online's Ethics bulletin board.
