The Virginia Unclaimed Property Division is responsible for returning money, stocks, bonds, dividends, utility deposits, insurance proceeds and tangible property to the rightful owners.
This is a free service - there is never a fee for claiming your property. Last year the Division returned over $27 million to owners, many of whom did not realize that the Commonwealth was holding property for them. One out of eight people nationally have unclaimed property.
