Official Web Site (Vermont Unclaimed Property) (Visit this siteExternal Link to Official Web Site (Vermont Unclaimed Property))

Welcome to the Vermont State Treasurer's Office Unclaimed Property Web site. I hope this Web site will answer many of your questions about unclaimed property and assist you in locating unclaimed assets. We invite you to search the Web site and see if we have assets for you. This is a free service and there is no time limit for filing a claim.

The primary function of the Vermont Unclaimed Property Division is to locate and return various forms of unclaimed financial property to the rightful owners or their heirs. This property could be any of the following:

  • forgotten bank accounts
  • uncashed pay checks
  • unclaimed security deposits
  • unused gift certificates
  • stocks
  • mutual funds
  • contents of safe deposit boxes

Vermont unclaimed property comes from many sources, such as banks, credit unions, corporations, utilities, insurance agencies, retailers, and governmental agencies throughout the United States. The Vermont State Treasurer's Office acts as custodian to safeguard the assets until they can be claimed by the rightful owners or heirs. More than $6 million is claimed each year.
