The Nevada Unclaimed Property Division was established to ensure that all businesses and government entities report and remit unclaimed or abandoned property in a timely manner, and to reunite the lawful owners with their property.

Unclaimed Property consists of money and other personal assets that are considered lost or abandoned when an owner cannot be located after a specific period of time.

Nevada unclaimed property does not include real estate.

Most common types of abandoned property are:

  • checking/savings accounts
  • money orders
  • death benefits
  • credit balances
  • vendor checks
  • refunds
  • over payments
  • dividends
  • certificates of deposits
  • commissions
  • paid-in-full life insurance policies
  • insurance payments
  • un-cashed checks
  • gift certificates
  • unpaid wages
  • customer deposits
