Official Web Site (Illinois Unclaimed Property) (Visit this siteExternal Link to Official Web Site (Illinois Unclaimed Property)) updated

Every year businesses send millions of dollars to the Illinois State Treasurer's Office. This is money that people have forgotten about, lost or never knew they had. Our job is to get it all back to the rightful owners. So navigate this site, find your property and make your claim.

The information in this website is provided as a method for citizens to locate unclaimed property for themselves or their family members. It is not provided for commercial purposes.

The Illinois State Treasurer does not charge a fee to search for or process a claim to retrieve unclaimed property. Individuals are encouraged to contact the Unclaimed Property Division of the State Treasurer's Office before signing any contract or agreement for receiving information concerning abandoned assets for a fee.

According to the Illinois Uniform Disposition of Unclaimed Property Act, a person or company attempting to collect a contingent fee for discovering abandoned property on behalf of an owner must be licensed as a private detective pursuant to the Private Detective, Private Alarm, Private Security, and Locksmith Act.
