Idaho Unclaimed Property Finder Information
Idaho Unclaimed Property Law provides that no person is entitled to a fee for discovering abandoned property until it has been in the custody of the state for at least two years.
Idaho does not have any special licensing requirements for heir finders.
Unlike some other states, Idaho does not limit the fee that unclaimed property finders can charge to owners of unclaimed property.
Although Idaho does not sell lists of unclaimed property, heir finders can view an owner listing, searchable by owner name, on the State Tax Commission's unclaimed property web site.
The exact value of the unclaimed property is not disclosed in order to protect owner confidentiality and to discourage heir finders from targeting owners with large dollar property values.
